of course, I think you've worked in and//or driven through a lot more of them than I have. :) One try, 4m 40s - half of which was sitting and trying to remember Ohio and Kentucky.
But then, when I was 10 and couldn't name more than 10 states, Dad bought me a 50 states puzzle and tested me on it regularly, so I have something of an advantage. Two min, 34 seconds, first time through, and they frelling misspelled Hawai'i. One of the few things Hawaiians get wound up about, when they do get wound up, is proper spelling of the language... there is an 'ohana between the final two "i"'s, and it *does* change the pronunciation... it's "Hah-WAH-(glottal stop - little bitty pause)-ee", not "ha-WAI" (with the dipthong)...
Yes, I have a bit of a vested interest in such things. :) ![[User Picture]](https://l-userpic.livejournal.com/4006831/508179) | From: | happypete |

I shall endeavor not to mis-spell it, lest there be any hawai'ians around. *chuckle* the adjective form doesn't have an 'ohana. :) ![[User Picture]](https://l-userpic.livejournal.com/4006831/508179) | From: | happypete |

argh! Where's Joss' zombie icon when you need it, eh? ("grrr, arrrgh!") My grandfather was in Pearl Harbor for 3 years before the attack, and then during (USS California) and he spoke Hawaiian... he taught us a bunch when we were little (I wish I remembered more!) but I remember he smacked me across the knuckles when I pronounced it "ha-WAI" the first time... never make THAT mistake again. :) That's why the teach that damn song in primary schools. ![[User Picture]](https://l-userpic.livejournal.com/4006831/508179) | From: | happypete |

These are the full lyrics, but if you know the tune you can do just the state part rather quickly.

Is there a 'well known' tune this goes to? I think it'd be fun to teach to the kids. :) ![[User Picture]](https://l-userpic.livejournal.com/82523618/2585733) | From: | discipuladc |

3m 13s - it's much easier than trying to write down all 50 without a visual prompt. I always end up missing 3 or so that way. ![[User Picture]](https://l-userpic.livejournal.com/4006831/508179) | From: | happypete |

sometimes I found the visual prompt distracting.
I tried to just hammer out as many as I can by tracing my mental map. I got 1m 25s on the first try. That's as fast as I could type them. I made a bunch of typos. ![[User Picture]](https://l-userpic.livejournal.com/4006831/508179) | From: | happypete |

I can smell your spicy brains [and fast-typing fingers]. Yeah, my first try was under 3 minutes, but I totally spaced on Hawaii and Alaska. oops. I blame pregnant brain (and poor typing!) I also couldn't remember how to spell Massachusetts... I kept getting that one wrong and it ticked me off. hehe! ![[User Picture]](https://l-userpic.livejournal.com/27390203/722483) | From: | eeedge |
