Whooooooo! - A Suburbs Boy Living a Country Life
[My Flickr Photos]
Did the 2.5 mile route again. Mostly jog/brisk walk. Calf was okay today. Another country heard from: The Republic of Gluteus Maximus. I'm just chalking this up to my body coming out of mothballs after a couple of years layoff from running. But oy! It's a pain in the...oh, I don't even need to say it.
To answer yesterday's commenters: stretching, check [before and after]; multi-vitamin, check.

Take your multivitamin with at LEAST juice or really at best some food, or you're not going to retain the majority of it, given that most vitamins in it are water soluble and won't have sufficient residence time in you to be absorbed as well as you'd like.

I pound a glass of water before I start whether my body "says" it needs it or not...vitamins and medicine are after run with a very light breakfast and more water [or juice, if I'm so inclined].

Re: good idea...
I take a liquid multivitamin - pills never sit well in my stomach
protein shake after work outs = not so sore the next day
stretching only after you're warmed up = better stretching = less injury
stretching before can lead to injury

is that one should do a very quick warmup, THEN stretch, then your full exercise routine, and then stretch after.

Re: my understanding..
Yup... never stretch cold muscles. That sounds right. :-)
