As a true American, I think I shall go to Tractor Supply Company and return some chain-link fence.

Maybe someday I'll try this technique.

I do all-butter, myself, and find that using fingers works just fine, as both my pie crusts and my biscuits turn out lovely.
I've never gotten the hang of using a tool to cut fat into flour for some reason. My mother uses 2 table knives, and my sister uses a tool that is neither knives nor a pastry cutter. For me, it's fingers. Unlike with biscuits, i do chill the butter/flour mix before continuing with the process when making pie crusts, though.

I have no doubt that this pie crust is truly awesome. The secret is here:
1/2 cup cold natural unhydrogenated lard, cut into pieces and then frozen until quite firm
Sorry mom, you got it wrong. Crisco is not a substitute for animal fat, and it doesn't matter what their ads say about flakey pie crust. Grandma was right. Lipids == flavor.
