Okay...
I think I've figured out why I haven't worked my way into the Baroque Cycle...
It's not that I don't enjoy the books, it's that there are two differt books that both claim to be volume 3: Odalisque and System of the World. Grumble.
ETA: Yay! WikiPedia... all is explained...
