FYI, Mac owners
According to their web site, USAA Deposit @Home is now available for the Mac!

I guess they solved their JNI/TWAIN driver dependency issue. Yay, USAA!

Step 1) Get check.

Step 2) Log in to USAA site

Step 3) Choose "Deposit@Home"

Step 4) Follow instructions to endorse and scan check.

Step 5 (optional)) Gleefully note increase in available balance.

6) And do what with it? Snailmail it to USAA? Shred it? Feed it to your goat?

Shredding it or feeding it to your goat are both valid options. No snailmail required. In accordance with new Federal reserve rules (Check XXI), the scanned copy is as valid as the original, and the original can be destroyed after being scanned.

The Deposit@Home app configures the scan job to the recommended resolution; on the back-end, the application reads the uploaded image to make sure that it sees a valid check image that meets all the requirements.

That was all I was waiting for to transfer my accounts over. I used to have my savings account for my travels there, but it became too much of a pain in the arse. I use them for just about everything else though.

Niiiiiiiiice.

replying to your posst to my LJ

Hey, I tried to reply to you but I guess it ended up at my LJ site. Not worth repeating all my meandering, but essentially thank you for your condolence and things are better now. I really was pretty depressed then.

Also, welcome to the World of Neersville. Sounds like you're enjoying life out here in the Valley Between the Hills. I grew up here and came back after many years away. It's lovely country but I kinda miss city stuff and get really tired of my long commute.
