We didn't receive our Voter Registration cards Friday|
Nervous about the deadline, I called Loudoun County's registrar and confirmed that Pam and I are registered to vote at our new address. Cards to follow.
About the only thing I know for sure is that I am voting "NO" on #1". I can't imagine that I'll be happy with the candidates I am offered. I'll just have to do my best.
For those of you who are Virginians, please don't allow our current slate of theocrats and bigots to write discrimination into the constitution of the Commonwealth.
Current Mood: worried
Clicking that link, and several within, to folow all the way to 'read the fine print of Amendment 1 leads one to a 'welcome to register your new web page it's easy to set up !'
I don't want to create a web page,lol
Got a link to the text of the proposed amendment ?
you will find the text of all three Virginia statewide ballot issues and questions.
I thought it might be something like that, but I found it odd that the spot rallying the troops against didn't have the basic text of 'what we are AGAINST' on their site, lol !

It took me two clicks..
I clicked "Get Informed"
and then the link under "What is the Marshall/Newman Amendment," and found:
BALLOT QUESTION NUMBER 1
Question: Shall Article I (the Bill of Rights) of the Constitution of Virginia be amended to state:
"That only a union between one man and one woman may be a marriage valid in or recognized by this Commonwealth and its political subdivisions.
This Commonwealth and its political subdivisions shall not create or recognize a legal status for relationships of unmarried individuals that intends to approximate the design, qualities, significance, or effects of marriage. Nor shall this Commonwealth or its political subdivisions create or recognize another union, partnership, or other legal status to which is assigned the rights, benefits, obligations, qualities, or effects of marriage."?

I have a question. I went to the voter site that tells you where to vote and who your candidates are. And I could SWEAR that last year they also had a list of ballot initiatives as well. But this time they didn't. Do you have a link where I could find out (by zip code or voting district) what all of the ballot initiaves are?
purports to tell you the ballot initiatives by area, but I couldn't actually get it to do so. The link
I posted above lists the statewide ballot questions, though.
