Well, here's the "photo essay." Pam wanted to blog this first, but I couldn't wait any more.

the only good news...

walking on crutches causes so much else to hurt, that I tend to forget about the foot.

ugh. I pulled so many muscles after my foot surgery I know what agony it is. But I would have thought you had enough muscles to handle them better.

Anyway, don't forget about the foot - I guess elevating it will help it heal faster/better, etc.

who was this?

anyway, it's not the strength, as much as the constantly standing on the other foot and also the fear-of-falling...

my 30-year-old, across-the-street neighbor just got home yesterday from a full hip replacement (yes, ball and socket.)

Don't mean to one-up you, but ... sometimes it's good just to be "normal."

Where:
Boston last week (SDExpo.)

Maybe Australia at the end of Oct. for a couple weeks on business (they say I'm going, but the details aren't quite nailed down yet.) Charles skipped Boston, but he'll go down under with me - this is too good an opportunity to pass up.

Other than that, tho, we won't be traveling much - termite damage and a leak to fix. :-/
