Off to Howard County...
There's an auction.  Apparently they sell things. And stuff. For houses. We think we are buying doors.

Q is spending the day with his real-life "barn friends," the children of the family that boards our horses...yes, there are two of them now.  * sigh *. He will be under the supervision of S, an extremely together and responsible teenager that prettypammie and I think very well of.  S is off barn duty for another week or so, having gotten a "nose job" courtesy of a cranky horse, followed by some surgical restoration.  Pam and I think this is a shame, because she had a lovely nose to begin with, and did not need any enhancements, equine or rhinoplastic. The doctor waved her off from any equine activities while things are healing up--they're so cranky about having to redo work. However, she's paying for her own horse habit, and so a good day of baby sitting will help her along while she's healing up.

Okay, off we go.

[edited: I tortured my syntax. It was S that got kicked in the nose, not Pam.]

Current Mood: blahblah

erk. yeah, Pammie could definitely have done without the facial alterations. That sucks. Hopefully she heals quickly and completely and well and is just as stunning and radiant as before. :-)

I think it's the teenager who's watching Quinn that got wacked by the horse.

I am so jealous that you have horses. I hope that one day we can afford it. :)

My former manager back in Delaware married a "horse person". He used to say, "Never invest in anything that eats."

*laughs heartly* I know that they can be a huge pain, but riding horses is so freeing, and having one that "knows" you.. ah..bliss

freeing - so is riding a motorcycle
and I have a cat that "knows" me.

The combination is blissful enough for me and much, much cheaper.

Pam likes them...

I tolerate them.

And they do seem to make Pam happy.

The average horse person actually doesn't have a lot of money. I have found that if you go take some lessons at a not-too-fancy barn, you can usually find work that needs to be done and you can end up trading work for horse time etc. If you become a really good rider you get to ride for free, because the rest of us who spend all this time working to pay for our horse addiction often don't have enough time to keep our horses as exercised as we should.

The wife of the former manager I talked about in my comment makes money off boarding and exercising other peoples' horses. The two of them do win the "ratty trailer award" at the jumping competitions they go to, though.....

I'm sure the poor girl that got whacked by a horse and wasn't anticipating a rhinoplasty thinks it's a shame, too.

...and a pain. But this kid has such a good attitude--I mean, here she is wearing a bright red knobby "nose cast," and just smiling. She was still in good humor after eight hours of being surrounded by five children ages three to ten.

For the other four kids, I think she gets payment in trade such as riding lessons and horse board. We don't have such things to barter, so we paid her well in the coin of the realm.

She certainly earned it.
