Wow, you're going to have some amazing views in the spring... (You have a library? Will you build us a house, too?)

Heritage Log Homes...

(Link)
(www.heritagelog.com, IIRC).

What you want to do is find a sales rep that is also a home designer, or work with an architect comfortable/familiar with log homes.

We started with a "base model" created by our sales reps, and tweaked from there.

Ah, you misunderstand... it's not that I like log homes per se, it's that I want you to buy us a house. ;-)

Oops, take 2 on the comment, Pete, you can kill my anonymous one, I didn't realize I wasn't logged in.
Er - do you think we're good at picking houses? I can tell you, we can't afford this. We just keep asking the bank for more $ and hoping we'll find a way to pay for it. I'm going to have to start boarding/training to see if I can get the property to pay for itself somewhat. And I don't know when we'll be able to buy proper dining room chairs or furniture for the library (other than my harpsichord - that and all our books was why we wanted a library/music room instead of the traditional family room).
Oh, yes, rugs - we'll need rugs.
Thank heavens there's no need to buy blinds or curtains.

Ouch. I can understand that this is a major project, and the things that go on the inside will have to wait until you're done paying for the outside. I just hope that in the end it will really be your "dream home."

We'll see if we can afford Arisia next year...it's going to be tight...

Of course we're alreeady paying more than what our mortgage will be because we're paying for storage and rent and the interest on the construction line...but right now we're hemmorhaging money. I've had to cancel all contributions to retirement and it still seem like we are in the red.

well...

bankruptcy is not very likely...

but Pam's dire predictions of franks'n'beans for a while may not be too far off the mark...

I just ran the numbers.

We're $100,000 off where we need to be to get this thing finished....

Just...

a hundred...

thousand....

dollars......

I'm still in shock...

I can't sleep.

To top it all off, I need to write a check to one of the vendors, and I can't find the #)#)%)#(*% construction account check book.

Yep...You guessed it: I'm out of checks. I must be out of money.

Arrrgh, E....this seemed like a good idea when I got into it.

Building a home is one of the most stressful things in life. You bring back memories...when I was a real estate agent I used to tell young couples that they didn't want to ever max out on the mortgage because they might not want to eat hot dogs every night for dinner. Right now you are in the oh my what did I commit to stage; it will get better. In time you will get raises $$$ and in a few years the house will fill up with too many material things. I am watching the progress through the photos on your journal and the home looks great.

Its supposed to be ready to move in the first week of Sept. We are making the color selections this week or next, and they are set to break ground in April or May...
