Crud... - A Suburbs Boy Living a Country Life

Saw the neurologist for a routine follow-up on my Syrinx. What he discovered, instead, is the beginnings of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. The Dvorak keyboard layout has been helping me a lot, and I hadn't had any twinges since I converted over. Unfortunately, I'm not at my own laptop any more, now, and I have to use QWERTY most of the time on the PC's and servers I'm working on.
The doctor suggested that I wear a brace at night, since apparently we end up doing more damage at night, bending our wrists under us, than we do during the day--or rather, perhaps, the body doesn't have a chance to heal properly, and instead we do additional damage.
So, I wore a brace last night--except that I was deep in a page-turner suspense book ("Immoral," my dad must have picked it up on the Book of the Month Club; I hadn't heard of it before). So, I didn't sleep until 4am. Even so, after wearing the brace all night, I don't feel as tingly and twingy this morning.
Crap...that really makes it sound compatible with CTS.
Oh, I guess I never posted this..

I feel your pain... almost literally. I was wearing my own braces last night. CTS sucks. Tendinitis is almost as bad. I suspect I have both.
Acupuncture helps me a lot when it flares up. It might be something for you to look into.
Oog, that sucks. I have wicked tendonitis, myself and have been wearing rigid wrist braces while sleeping. It does help. Maybe they'll help you, too.
