Too-quick update: 1st Day of Kindergarten|
Definitely a big hit. Quinn had a good time. He wrote his name on his first piece of classwork--"color in the smiley faces." He embellished one smiley face with black hair and a beard and mustache, like Daddy, and one face with "reddish hair, like mommy." This kid really knows how to work those heart-strings! ;) He wrote his name on top of his paper. All the letter pointed in the correct direction, too. Everything was fun. He enjoyed his snack--a cheese sandwich, with some of Grandma Nancy's bread from our trip down there this weekend. It seems he's already thinking up present ideas for Yule. He's gotten it in his head that he wants to go to Disneyland...I made it clear, in the old gently but firmly sense, that that wasn't happening any time soon...undashed, and unabashed, he suggested that maybe something from Disneyland might do.
And now, for the most recent Q3 Report (Quotable Quinn Quotes):
On being urged to go to the bathroom before getting started on his field trip Thursday morning: "No, my penis is too tired to keep on doing that!"
On growing up: "I want to always be a little boy. No more birthdays!"

Silly Quinn. He's asking the wrong people. Boring parents don't take kids to Disneyland. Indulgent uncles take kids to Disneyland. We won't make him have any more birthdays, either.

Between Grandma and Grandpa and the Indulgent Uncles, I can tell prettypammie
and I are going to be busy trying to keep this kid from getting spoiled.

"We'd like to take you to Disneyland, Quinn, but your parents won't let us. Aren't they mean?"
More to the point, I have never been to Disneyland, and as a grown man, I pretty much need Quinn as an excuse to go.
I never have, either, so maybe we'll all go sometime.

Kids growing up.
Scan the pic. :-) I want to see. Maybe the daddy smiley would make a fun icon for LJ.
Kindergarten is the beginning. Before long you will be making decisions about colleges. It's hard to believe that it will only be a couple of years before Older daughter will start trying to make REAL plans for college. Not just dreamy statements like "I want to be a vet when I grow up." Soon, we'll be doing things to actually make that HAPPEN. Wonder if she's still want to be a vet by then.
And a 5 year old that can already articulate that his penis is tired? Well that makes me laugh. :-)

So far so good...
We're hanging in there.
