Oh, [bad words]...
It just dawned on me--again--that somewhere over the course of the convention I volunteered for not one but two staff positions for Arisia. I can not claim drunkenness or any other impairment--I just said yes. Luckily one is a pre-con job and one is an at-con job, so I don't have to solve cloning between now and then. Maybe prettypammie will take pity on me and help...after she finishes laughing at me.

Oh, fuzcat, I ran into C at the Weird Al party and confirmed that she was indeed still looking to fill one of the slots we discussed and thanked you for looking out for her and asking me. Oh, and apparently I'm supposed to ask you to add me to the staff list [i'm assuming she means a mailing list?].

c1, better tell me what it is exactly I've signed up for...I suppose the best thing for me to ask for is the last three year's worth of advertisers contact data--and I'll look through the Noreascon book to see if there's any possible new customers there.

Don't feel bad...

Same thing happened to me Saturday night. One moment, I was having some nice scotch at a party, and the next thing I knew, I was saying, "Sure, I can help with Ops at Arisia! Of COURSE I could do overnight if needed!"

Just means more familiar faces in the Staff Den, eh? ;)

I would like to take this opportunity to point out that you both said you wanted to do something at ARISIA.

As for the staff list – just drop an e-mail to staff@arisia.org, introduce yourself and ask to be added. If this doesn’t work let me know, but it is what I have seen other people do.

dee_cee, you might want to drop lensman a note. He is the div head and I am sure will be very glad to know you will be helping out in that area.

Silly fuzcat, I think you know we're just goofing around...Goes back and reads post again, yep, I did say that that I volunteered... * grin *

I'm happy to help--and it's cool, because I've got two jobs this year that I haven't done before...in a few more years, maybe I'll collect the whole set!

I didn't think you were actually complaining... at least not seriously. This year should be fun. At least that is my plan!

... maybe I'll collect the whole set!

Yeah, this year is a job I havn't done before either, it should be fun. But I don't want to collect the whole set. Someone else can keep the con-chair card!

Oh, right, good point...I wouldn't want that much responsibility, I'd go pop...

Not to mention, you COULDN'T do it as a non-local, and Pam and I don't have a con that close.

Like Pete said, it was TOTALLY in fun! I wouldn't volunteer if I didn't want to do it...no harm meant :(

I got the email address, and I'll drop a line tonight. I just havent...um...totally unpacked from Worldcon yet...

I re-read my post...yeah, there is a distinct lack of "winky face" emoticons or actual prose indicating tongue stuck-in-cheek...

/me whips out his editing pen...

I don't feel bad. I like working ARISIA, so in my selfcentric view of the world, everyone else should too!

It will be an adventure! ... just without the mosquitoes and swampy bits.

I'll be back (what blog programming have you got coming up?), but the family will almost certainly remain in Atlanta.

It'll be so nice to see you again.

Your best bet is to send an e-mail to Sheila offering your services on blogging, writing, or other programming you're interested in. Right now is a great time to offer up any panel topics, descriptions, and even recommended co-panelists that you have.
