I was bad... I finally broke down and spent money on the business card scanner and software...a couple of years back, my Mom got me one--unfortunately, it was slow and clunky and a poorer quality image scanner compared to the "best of breed" CardScan scanner out there...so, now, a couple of generations later, the CardScan scanner and software have gotten even BETTER...and they now have a service that tells people what information you have on them in your address book and invites them to keep me up-to-date.
I got a few messages from friends going "did you REALLY intend to send me this e-mail?" (And one minor complaint from a friend whose mail-reader couldn't parse the HTML-formatted text). Once they were satisfied it was legit, by and large they updated it. What was really cool was that a few others were also subscribers to the service or someone else had scanned their business card in with their scanners--so as a bonus, I got an image of their cards downloaded to my contact list. Groovy. eh?
Now I have all those hundreds of undealt-with business cards to scan...I'm looking forward to rubber-banding them with a little piece of paper that says "scanned!"
