Offline drafting - A Suburbs Boy Living a Country Life

Airborne, cruising, on the way in to Huntsville via Atlanta again...I guess I'll post this sometime today when I get connected.
The LunaCon report, belated, it was really great to see everyone again. We shared a room with flyingwolf--she's a great roommate and con-buddy; she and Quinn get along really well (it's so adorable to hear him say her name...the long e of "M-ia" drawn out a touch and a little lilt up at the end. Of course, we all got to admire His Tallness, cz_unit, and hug on and dine with browngirl. I volunteered exactly zero hours at this con, and Pam and I made reasonable use of the at-con baby-sitting, presided over by Winnie again...like Arisia, the "regular faces" at child-care are starting to get to know Quinn--although with as much as a year between visitations, they are certainly seeing him in time lapse. The con itself was good, as such things go. We fall into a pattern of prettypammie talking to Mattie, and Ian, and Darrell, and others--learning the craft and business of writing in bits and pieces.
I wish she had more spare time, because the story she's written and submitted and a couple of the almost-finished and just-getting-started stories are excellent. Well, spare time for us is a rare thing, with both of us insanely busy with work, with Quinn, with her in School and me trying to back her up at home...
I'm so glad we had this weekend together.
So, Friday night, after getting checked in, you know what...I can't really remember most of the con in exquisite detail, now. It was great to a back and footrub bed was formed, including most of the cohorts listed above at one point or another. This was the party where I met debkitty...she seemed to like back-rubs, too. Go figure. Okay, where was I? Ian Randall-Strock moderated a panel for writer-types that I started to attend, but finally decided to leave for another panel...Pam and I split for a few hours to pursue our various pursuits.
Arrgh..I'm now continuing to draft this on the plane flight BACK from Huntsville, Wednesday evening. My battery level is getting critical, though...it's on Solid Orange. Is that bad or really bad? Actually, it was blinking orange a minute ago...my guess is the voltage level is dropping when the fans turn on, or something...and if I'm at that point on the battery power curve, I won't have much time left. This laptop really is a desktop replacement...I think I need to buy a second battery if I'm going to be taking it on many more plane flights and actually trying to work.
Okay, I'm on the ground, back at home, so I'm going to post this now before I forget again.
Current Mood: happy
*nod* I always have two batteries with me - one in the machine, and one as backup...speaking of - I should probably test the other one :P
how many people plan to fail by not TESTING their disaster plans...
