Friends [old and new] of elfwench...
It looks like all that energy from around the world--or maybe it was simply youth, good underlying health, and luck--has worked in Robert's favor. He is conscious, alert, recognizing his friends and family, understanding and speaking, moving all his limbs. He's got a huge amount of recovery to do--and probably surgeries, physical therapy, and who knows what else for a long time to come...but, fundamentally, he's back. Then there's still the matter of evaluating what damage he has done himself that may not heal. Thanks to all that expressed their good wishes here or in elfwench's journal.

I wouldn't say "alert" but he is responsive. I think it's a combination of all of the above that's pulling him through. Even the nurses are calling it a miracle. And, I just found out that he's going to be moved to Progressive ICU.

Hon, I'm so glad for you.

I can't remember if I was yet a dad when we first met online--now that I am, it's so much harder to imagine bearing up under this like you have.

We are all pulling for you, too!
