It sounds like injuries were serious

I was worried right away mostly for the crew, as it looked like one of those "air-burst" concussion bombs went off at ground level right next to them, but then they seemed to keep moving, and in fact it didn't look like an immediate retreat. Then the secondary ignitions started, one concussion going off in the crowd across the field from us.

It was definitely scary.

At least one fatality - multiple injuries

We were there and hung around for a little while afterward and heard the dispatcher for the fire dept. The medi-vac came in. Terrible. Terrible. My family's thoughts and prayers go with the injured, and it is so strange to continue hearing the popping and whistling of pyrotechnics after this happened right in our back yard...

The news crews aren't reporting the fatality yet, but I'm not surprised. I'd be shocked if the pyro crew weren't among the injured--one of those concussion blasts went off right amidst them.

I feel terrible--we were enjoying a great show from a technical and showmanship point-of-view, and then to have this sort of tragedy occur.

How did you find me? Looking for news?

Update - I've watched all the "latest news" on this and there were no fatalities reported. Maybe the dispatcher was talking about something else, or did not have complete information. Experience has taught me that the news apparatus gets it wrong just as often as it gets it right, but I'm hoping they were right this time...

TO answer your question - I ran Google blog search and you came up! Thanks!

Sounds like noone was killed, thank goodness.

I hadn't run a blog search, myself--I set up a google news alert. By the time I went to sleep last night, the news wasn't reporting much more than we already knew from being there.
